If you think that being a woman motorcycle rider in Europe is hard, spare a thought for members of WIMA Pakistan. Not only do they face the problems all riders in their country face eg travel outside their country is barred to neighbouring countries Afghanistan, India and China; to enter Iran requires riders to leave a deposit of 3 times the value of their vehicle (a Carnet that should be returned when re-entering Pakistan). This is virtually impossible in such a poor country.

Whilst western women fight to have manufacturers of safety gear make clothes to fit women, in Pakistan women riders often have to disguise themselves in men’s or androgynous clothing to prevent abuse and serious violence by many men against women motorcyclists.
