About WIMA Iceland
WIMA Iceland was established on 15 December 2022.
The reason we have not been seen before is that we have been adjusting ourselves to the association and learning how everything works. Now we are ready to show you and introduce Icelandic women to this great community.
We (Dagrún and Begga) first went to the Swiss rally in 2022, then Dagrún and Hafdís went to the rally in France in 2023. In Romania we were four of us, Dagrún, Hafdís, Begga and Sigga. Icelandic rallies are usually held in boarding schools or youth summer camps. It is a very good idea to connect the rally to a motorcycle trip, like starting at the rally and then riding on some adventures or the other way around. Women can also go from the rally site to day trips around the area.
WIMA is a great place to get to know excellent women from all over the world. Now we are taking our first steps to show ourselves, we do have a logo and soon we will open for membership applications. But for now, let’s see if we can interest women in Iceland in being part of the WIMA family. We are asking women to share our Facebook site with their motorcycle girlfriends and tell them about us.
To make a logo for WIMA Iceland Dagrún made up this character and a little live story to have fun with the project. All the examples are designed by Rakel Karlsdótttir, an Icelandic designer and motorcyclist, living in Denmark.
Our logo character is Freyja.
1. Freyja is young, free and a little wild.
She is tough and beautiful, so all the boys have their eyes on her. But she is only thinking of riding her bike and having fun. She rides fast and loves to feel the wind in her long hair.
2. Freyja has earned respect from her fellow bikers. The boys all tried to charm her, but she loves only one. They started their usual life, have lovely kids and a beautiful home. She always loves to travel on her bike and starts to realise it is necessary to use a helmet. Because of the cold and safety, now that she is a mom, safety became priority. She just enjoys the bike and all the nature she can explore, while riding.
3. Freyja is in her prime, tough, and secure in her own skin. A little broken after the love of her life died but she has lots of very good biker friends. But she still also loves to ride on her own, enjoys travelling, forgets all her worries and the kids at home. She has nothing to prove, she can be herself, and she feels good about herself.
4. Now Freyja is totally free, the kids have all grown up and she doesn‘t care what others think. She now travels to many countries and has got to know bikers from all over the world. She even finds herself in the arms of a woman occasionally. She and the bike are one with nature. She is as tough as ever and still up to facing whatever.
