2013 Switzerland, Val-de-Travers, 14 – 20 July

In Val-de-Travers, Switzerland, WIMAs enjoyed sunny rides, a flag-decorated parade, delicious meals, poolside relaxation, and evening entertainment – celebrating friendship, motorcycles, and unforgettable Alpine adventures.

Report written by Åsa Öhqvist, WIMA Sweden.

The WIMA Rally was held in the French speaking part of Switzerland in Val-de-Travers, and our camp was on the sports ground in the village of Couvet. We had access to all the facilities, overseas guests stayed in the accommodation and there was a cafe and a swimming pool too.

We had lovely weather, better than I could imagine after last year’s nightmare ride over the cold and rainy Susten Pass. The days were sunny, warm and perfect for riding while the evenings were only a wee bit chilly.

One of my favourite parts of the WIMA rally is the parade. I find it so exciting when everyone gets their bikes ready with flags or other national accessories and the following ride is always very emotional; it feels so powerful to ride through the neighbourhood with all my WIMA friends. This year the parade took us a bit up into the mountain and afterwards we all gathered at a meeting point and ate fruit and buns while admiring each other’s bikes.

In the evenings there was entertainment, and the food was outstanding, very high quality, nutritious and delicious! And to top it all, on the last evening there was a cake buffet.

Time passed quickly and too soon the week had come to an end. Everyone was busy packing up to head on or head home, but not before promising to meet again next year.
