Information is now widely available about Louise Scherbyn and Theresa Wallach, but we feel that Frances Popley’s account of these two remarkable women in the 1980 history stands the test of time very well. Much of her information came from personal letters from Louise and Theresa written at the time, especially for the history. So, we present it here, slightly edited, together with some more photos that have come to light since that first history, plus reminiscences from WIMA members who met them.

Theresa Wallach (1909-1999)
Theresa’s achievments are numerous and include racing at speed as well as crossing the whole continent of Africa, and America too, starting a riding school, writing a book, appearing on TV and being the first vice president of WIMA.
